I am a training provider interested in funding a program. Are there resources to assist my programs and trainees?
Most job training resources are funded through grants awarded to training providers and business and industry. The Division allocates funds from both state and federal resources aimed at meeting workforce needs in Alaska’s high wage, high demand occupations. Training providers are encouraged to view current grant opportunities on the State of Alaska's Online Public Notice website and to take the tutorial and register in our new online grant management system, EGrAMS.
Other funding resources are available to training providers through Individual Training Accounts (ITAs). ITAs are issued to individuals at local Alaska Job Centers. Some of the ITAs require training providers and their programs qualify through the state Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL).
I am an employer looking for help in developing my workforce. Are there resources to assist me?
The Division often assists employers with their customized training needs. An employer needing to upgrade or improve their workforce capacity as a result of changes in process, technology, or specialized skills, should contact the Division directly. Program Coordinators from the Division are skilled in identifying and assisting an employer to develop the plan and make recommendations for resources.
Besides the specialized work of the Division, Alaska’s Job Centers across the state have a number of programs to help employers develop a skilled workforce. From Apprenticeship to tax credits, many options are available. Additionally, the Division targets occupations that are determined to be high wage and high demand. Local Job Centers have business services specialists to help you identify the right resources.
From time to time the Division also offers specialized funding to help employers with specific workforce development needs. Employers are encouraged to search for current grant opportunities and learn about the Division's online grant management system, EGrAMS.
I am a youth, 14 - 24 years of age, looking for a job or training. How do I find a job or training?
Alaska is committed to helping its youth succeed in the labor market. Numerous programs are available throughout the state. These programs include career information, work experience and training on youth employability skills. Visit the Department’s Youth Services web page for more information.
I would like help with job training, what do I do?
Alaska has Job Centers across the state where numerous resources are available to help identify career opportunities, and to develop training plans and strategies for funding. Many of the resources are available online or by calling (877) 724-2539, toll free in Alaska.
I am looking for a job training program. Where do I look for approved training providers and how do I receive assistance?
Approved training providers can be found on the ETPL or Alaska Training Clearinghouse. Contact your local Job Center to see if you qualify for job training assistance.
