Assistive Technology Program

Alaska's Assistive Technology (AT) program improves access to and acquisition of assistive technology for Alaskans with disabilities of all ages in the areas of education, employment, community living, information technology and telecommunications.  The majority of the program is funded by a federal grant from the Assistive Technology Act.

How the Program Is Run

Types of Services Provided

  • Loan and Reuse of AT
    Connecting people and organizations to available assistive technology and medical equipment including free and used products.
  • AT Demonstrations
    ATLA offers customized demonstrations conducted by trained AT professionals so consumers can make informed decisions about the latest AT.
  • Training
    Training in the areas of skills-development, use and application training and assessment and implementation.
  • Awareness / Information and Assistance / Referrals
    Making referrals and increasing public awareness about policies, products, or services through presentations, e-newsletters, website, blog and print materials.
  • Technical Assistance
    Assissting schools and state and local agencies to improve their AT related policies and procedures.
